Team Juan

We've been making some further developments on our current untitled project!
script, script, script!

We've kicked off our pre-production process and sort of split into sub teams - aka weeding out the artist to start work on character designs, concept art and a more detailed storyboard / colour script.

There's been initial meetings to make sure that everyone's on the same page in terms of style and direction, so we can then go away and start designing.

Designs will be:
- Mexican theme colour palette, mainly golds, yellow, blue, orange, pink
- Working against a 2D background
- Characters and assets will be boxy and low poly (like the coolness below)

Pinata Moodboard
Natasha and Kaitlin also pointed out possible complexities when modelling and rigging (especially considering the time constraints), so we've figured out that its probably best to keep the goat model simple so it can be duplicated (for the other 2) and then tweaked to match the persona (yes persona) of each goat!

This will also make the rigging process easier - meaning that we'll only need to do one rig then copy this over for the other 2 (hopefully).

We've divvied out the characters between us to work on over the weekend:
Goats - Cristina and Ritchie
Troll - Natasha, Bimpe and Yannis
Mariachi band - Kaitlin and Bimpe
Background - Cristina and Kaitlin

Cristina and Ritchie have already started out on some cool initial designs for the goats!

We'll be re-grouping on Monday for a quick show and tell and make some final decisions on the design, then aiming to have final designs by Wednesday.

Amit also pulled together the roles in the group!

Week 1: Group 1 Is A Go!

We were given the brief from Axis on Monday as we really wanted to hit the ground running so we've already had 2 meetings to start fleshing out our initial ideas.

It was quickly decided that Kaitlin would be PM, which means we could have clear direction off the bat, and ensure that decisions were being made quickly and that the project doesn't run away from us!

Meeting #1 - Ideas 'n' Stuff
We brainstormed ideas and took a lot of inspiration from the suggestions posed by Axis in terms of the story we wanted to re-tell (mainly fairytales).

There were quite a few ideas, but the general consensus was that we wanted the re-telling of our story to be quite left field of its original. Once we narrowed down to our top 4 ideas we decided to each generate a moodboard on one of the stories so we could start to visualise what direction we could see our production going.

We've also been thinking ahead in terms of deadline and skill set, and thought it would be best to try and avoid over complicating the story in terms of script and production - aka, avoid lip-syncing where possible! This would also free up up to focus on the overall look and movements of the characters without living in fear dodgy lip-syncs and timing issues.

Meeting #1, smashed.

Meeting #2 - Show 'n' Tell
We regrouped to showcase our moodboards and pitch potential ideas, themes and styles to the group. Off the back of this we decided on our story - Billy Goats Gruff (and piƱata's)! Natatsha pulled together the moodboard for this, and we though that it would work really well visually, especially if we go down the low poly, colour everywhere look!

We also used this meeting plot a rough script and storyboard, and discussed potential roles and Amit's plotted our production pipeline which is VERY useful to those of us who haven't worked on a project like this before.

Kaitlin's working on the script, and once this is finalised we'll allocate roles and start getting into design pre-production mode.
